The ground holds the attention
Hundreds of eyes
Suddenly reclaims interest on how a wooden floor is layed down
Counting the amount of wood
The the cracks and creeks
Nervously awaiting for the stranger to pass

NO
Let’s count how many years
Each wooden plank has lived
Before it ended up here

Needle falls to the ground
One bounce
Two
Three four
Rapid increase of pace
Until it falls back into a pattern of silence

Not a single eye moved
Until the man said hello
A careful nod
Then he said goodbye
And they could finally breathe again
